With the Nationals recently rained off and rescheduled for July, it's down to Schlapps to put on the best tandem meet of the year. With round 16 and possibly 18 tandems teams entered - including two from Germany and another from Holland, it lloks like being a feast of tandeming!
Top riders - apart rrom our own supertandemingstars Ellen/Anthony, Paul/ Blinkie, Jon N/withAileen Mcglynn MBE, Jon Gribbin/withBen Elliott, Evelyn /with Neil Orrell, Jeanette /With Brad Thurell, Gwyn/ Jo Fenwick, Joanne W/Dan Wolfie - there is Barny Story/Rik Wadden and others I can't recall.
Watch out for Ellen and Jo Wilman going for the 1km flying national record; Jon Norfolk and Runner Boy Anthony going for the men's version of the same record and tracey crolla/Chris Higgs going for the 5km record.

On Grass

Carlisle was the venue for the first race af the weekend and Eve Kenyon took 5th place in the women's omnium on very heavy ground.
The next day it was Richmond in N Yorkshire where Jon Norfolk was in scintilating form taking the 8km national league [round 1] easily and then winning the 800m scratch plus second in the 800m hcp and the 5km scratch. great riding on a very heavy but smooth track .

Newcastle TL

Results just in from the sticks - Newcastle TL - where Wolfie won the Devil. Big news is Chris Higgs on her debut TL took 4th in the Ladies scratch and then took 2nd lady in the 10 mile. Great debut!

The weekend is coming up but today, Thursday sees the Newcatle tl debut of Chris Higgs. No doubt Wolfies, who is also riding will let us have the results.
The national grass 8km is this weekend at Richmond, Yorks and Cool Dude Jon is ridin. it's an event he has medalled in before so hopefully a placing may be in the offiing. Eve K is also ridingthe meeting after riding at Carlisle the dabefore.

Sun 21st

Whilst Jon and the crew were eating Newcastle track out of cakes while the rain poured down and the tandems were being cancelled, the Juniors were hard at work in Manc at the omniums. Great news is that Jo Wilman took a brill 3rd in hot competition behind Lucy Ayres and Anna Blythe. In the junior boys Dan Wolfie took a top 5 placing while wiltling at the end due to flying in from his Portuguese base early in the morning.

Sat 20th

Results just in for the Ashurst 10m tt today on a damp and blustery day on the Rainsford course;
Winner overall was A Walsh[Birkenhead] 22.17
Eve Kenyon was second womean overall in 27.16
David Melvin 28.04

Good rides on a horrible day. Lets hope it drys out for the tandems on Sunday!

Tandems this weekend at the nationals in Newcastle under Lyme track and we have riders on every tandem bar two.

Should be great meet - if the rain stays away.

On the say day Dan Wolfie and Jo Wilman will be doing their stuff at the BC North champs in Manchester Velodrome.

Eve Kenyon will be riding 10mtt on Saturday @ Rainsford and Christine Higgs is riding one too along with Jeanette Baxter.
